Provides quality assurance to the Rolling Stock Information System (RSIS), a regional railroad initiative under the Regional Center for Southern Africa office of USAID to maximize the use of trains, locomotives, and wagons to transport cargo in the region. This $12 million project includes the deployment of telecommunications, hardware, software and applications in seven participating countries. The RSIS project includes a real-time, integrated and interactive management information system on the six national railways of Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, plus the Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA). RSIS interfaces with the already existing SPRINT system used by SPOORNET in the Republic of South Africa and ACIS, the United Nations’ railtracker application.
