PlanITech uses the Critical Success Factors (CSF) to develop IT Strategic Plans for governmental organizations in developing countries, where needs increase exponentially and resources are limited.
As the first step in the process of preparing an IT Strategic plan for the institution, PlanITech organizes a three-day seminar to illustrate and discuss the methodology with top and middle managers of the organization who are responsible for defining strategic plans for their departments.
After the first day in which the mission, vision, objectives, and indicators are discussed and final consensus is reached among all participants, PlanITech instructors act as moderators to discuss in small groups (set up by institutional objective) the strategies and associated information needs for each objective.
During the third day, the leaders of each group present their findings to all participants and by voting, the participants also select the teams to prepare the actual IT Strategic Plan. PlanITech documents the entire process, provides the follow-up for creating the teams and serves as advisor and coordinator to the institution in preparing the IT Strategic Plan and the associated implementation plan.
The preparation of an IT strategic plan for an institution might take between one to three months, depending on the complexity of the organization, the level of participation of the team members and the support of the top management to sponsor the initiative.
The workshop is a critical success factor to ensure a successful preparation of an IT strategic plan, improves communication among middle and top managers and facilitates the understanding of the steps, roles, and responsibilities for preparing the IT strategic plan.
The workshop is designed for 15 to 20 participants.
